Get Glowing and Flowing
Dry brushing involves daily “brushing” of the skin with a dry, stiff-bristled brush. There are many wonderful benefits to this simple routine so let’s discuss proper dry brush technique and the best way to maximize its benefits.
It is important to use a natural bristled brush for the best results.
First, the natural benefits!
Dry brushing helps users to:
- Gently exfoliate the skin and remove dry skin cells- think winter scales or that post sun and water-day dryness.
- Unclog pores.
- Promote detoxification by increasing blood circulation and lymph flow/drainage.
- Stimulate your nervous system leading to revitalization- almost like you received a massage!
Technique
Proper technique involves long, smooth strokes starting at your feet. Imagine you are trying to move fluid from your feet up to your heart. Working your way up, give each body part several strokes before moving to the next section. Think feet, lower legs, thighs, abdomen, arms. Your strokes should be firm, but never harsh.
The goal is to do circular, clockwise motions on your abdomen/chest/breast area towards the direction of the heart. You can even proceed to the face and neck but we recommend using a gentler brush. You can start with your collar bone, sides of the neck, under the chin and then across the face. The motion involves sweeping from center of the face towards the ear.
We recommend performing dry brushing at home in the morning before showering.
Happy brushing!
